We Americans love our pets! They’re a part of the family, and we can’t imagine life without them. But when it comes to cleaning up after them, things can get a little messy.

If you have a pet, you know that they can be pretty hard on your car. From fur and poop to claw marks and mud, they can leave your vehicle looking less than its best. That’s where the deep clean detail for your car comes in.

Read on to learn more about this service, step by step!

Step 1: Remove Pet Hair

Our first tip involves removing all your items and giving the car a good vacuuming, getting into all the nooks and crannies where pet hair likes to hide. This includes under the seats, between the cracks of your seats, and in the trunk.

If you find any wet stains, you might want to consider wet vacuuming. Just make sure you don’t over-saturate the area with water as it could cause mold or mildew to form.

Step 2: Remove Urine and Stains

This step calls for good old baking soda paste, white vinegar spray, or any bio-enzymatic cleaning product. These heroes will save your day by removing any set-in stains or odors.

Don’t procrastinate on these stains too long, especially if they have anything to do with your pet’s bowel movements. Otherwise, you could be staring at a pretty severe biohazard, not to mention a serious bill from the car detailer.

Step 3: Remove Air Odor

If you’ve left a stain too long, or your pet has claimed the car as their turf, there could be a lingering odor.

To counter this problem, you could leave a bowl of baking soda in the car overnight. Febreze spray also works wonders. If the odor is persistent, you might need to brave a drive to the mechanic and get your vent filters changed.

Step 4: Deep Clean Upholstery and Carpets

This area is where things get a little more technical. You could shampoo the carpets and upholstery yourself, but you might not have the right equipment. If you’re going to attempt this, make sure you use an all-purpose cleaner, a mild soap, or a steam cleaner.

Of course, leather material demands a whole other array of products. It’s not a fun process to clean these items, so let’s look at preventative measures in our next step.

Step 5: Cover Your Seats

We ought to have written that subheading in capital letters. ANYWAY. Covering your seats is an excellent preventative measure.

If you’re a currently repentant dog owner, consider purchasing a dog hammock and safety seatbelt. These will protect your backseats from hair, dirt, and claws. If you’re not a fan of the dog hammock (we get it, they look ridiculous), then consider buying some seat covers.

Of course, you’ll have to clean those and the dog once in a while. But it’s better than nothing!
